Mike Hill

Mike Hill leads a team of fifty-one clinical staff, and partners with thirty physicians on the day-to-day operations of the surgical specialties and nephrology clinics at Ochsner Medical Center – Jefferson Highway.  Mike has developed many new models of care throughout the clinics leading to an increase in patient satisfaction, physician and employee engagement, and waste reduction. He was selected as the New Leader of the Year in 2017 for accomplishments within the group practice.  

Prior to his role in clinic operations, Mike was a member of the Office of Strategy Management for Ochsner Health System, which oversaw all strategy related activities from formulation to execution.  Mike worked directly with the Chief Medical Officer and Chief Operating Officer to develop and execute on Ochsner’s three-year strategic, human resources, and capital plan, as well as the physician compensation plan for a 1,300+ employed physician group practice.   

Mike practiced heath care and business law before embarking upon a career in healthcare administration.  He was an associate attorney at firms in Montgomery, and Birmingham, Alabama, and clerked for Judge W. Keith Watkins of the United States District Court for the Middle District of Alabama.  

Mike holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree with majors in Finance, Economics, and Math from the University of Alabama.  He received his law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law, and Master of Science in Health Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.  Mike is a board member of the NextGen Council, and past co-chair for the Emerging Philanthropists of New Orleans. He is a graduate of the Bryan Bell Leadership Forum of New Orleans. 

Mike lives in Uptown with his wife Mae, and basset hound Heathcliff.  He enjoys Crossfit, running, reading, and blogging.
